Most Will-drafting services in India will not show you their drafting until after you have paid. That is a choice, and we understand the commercial reasoning behind it — a Will is the delivered product, and a service that shows the product before payment is, in one sense, giving away the deliverable. We take the opposite view, and we do it for three reasons.
The first reason is transparency. A Will is one of the most consequential legal documents a person will ever sign, and it is unreasonable to ask someone to buy that document without being allowed to see what a well-drafted one looks like. When you download one of our specimens, you are seeing the actual clause library our advocates work from — the executor appointment, the residuary bequest, the testamentary-trust clause for a minor child, the FEMA-aware repatriation guidance, the Section 63 attestation block. Nothing is hidden. What you see in the specimen is the drafting standard you get on your own engagement.
The second reason is buyer confidence. Choosing an advocate to draft the single most important document in your life is a trust decision, and trust decisions are made on evidence, not marketing copy. The third reason is educational. Reading a well-drafted Will teaches you what to look for in your own — the specificity of asset descriptions, the anticipation of contingencies (what if a beneficiary predeceases the testator? what if a bequeathed asset is sold before the testator's death?), the attention to executor practicality, the interaction with nominations. Even if you never engage us, the specimens should leave you a smarter Will-buyer.
All three specimens are redacted composites — the family names, addresses, PAN numbers, and specific asset identifiers are fictional. The legal structure and drafting standard, however, is exactly what we produce on paid engagements.
The three specimens below cover three of the most common situations in which Indian families come to us for a Will. Each addresses a distinct set of drafting challenges.
The most common situation among our first-time Will clients. A salaried professional in their thirties or early forties, married, with one or two children under 18. The estate is typically a self-occupied flat, one or two life-insurance policies, an EPF corpus, a mutual-fund portfolio, and some gold. The drafting focus is on the guardianship clause for the minor children, the testamentary-trust structure to hold their share until majority (or a later age you specify), and the executor appointment with a substitute executor in case the first-choice executor is unable or unwilling to act.

An OCI cardholder or NRI based in Dubai with assets across two jurisdictions — a flat in India, mutual-fund and NRE / NRO balances, and personal assets in the UAE. The specimen shows the India-side Will that we draft as one half of our two-Will NRI architecture. The drafting focus is on the FEMA-aware bequest language that lets heirs abroad lawfully repatriate their inheritance, the revocation clause limited to Indian-situs Wills (so the mirror UAE Will co-exists rather than being cancelled), the apostille-ready execution block, and the coordination clauses that name the host-country executor as an alternate for any UAE-resident asset accidentally captured by the India Will.

A promoter of a closely held business — private-limited or LLP — with a mix of unlisted equity, real estate, and personal assets. The specimen is drafted within the Shariat Application Act, 1937 framework as a Wasiyat, respecting the one-third bequeathable share and the residuary distribution to legal heirs under the applicable school (Sunni Hanafi in this specimen). The drafting focus is on the calculation and disposition of the one-third bequeathable estate, the interaction between the Wasiyat and the LLP Agreement or Articles of Association that govern transmission of business equity, and the appointment of a Wasi (executor under Muslim personal law) with clearly delineated powers.
